DECOMPOSED
GOD
MODER
----------------- March 26, 2010 – Bremen, Römer (GER)
----------------- |
Carnage
Zine’s (R.I.P.) Leif had organized another Blast Attack party in Bremen,
Germany. Those parties are always worth a visit as he usually puts up good live
bands. So even though I didn’t know DECOMPOSED
GOD from Brazil (founded in 1991 already!) and
had only heard of local opening act MODER’s name, I took the 60 km ride to
Bremen anyway. According to the flyer the show was supposed to start at 8:00
p.m. and even though I didn’t quite believe this I was quite relieved when I
found a parking space not too far from the venue. When I arrived there around
8:15 and had payed the 5 bucks for the ticket, MODER were already playing. Huh?
But of course that was only the soundcheck. So I bought the 2 DECOMPOSED GOD CDs
and let the guys sign the "Bestiality" record. In return, they took a
pic with me as I was probably the first customer over here (Bremen was the first
show of their tour). When waiting was getting on my nerves and I had talked a
bit to the few people I knew, I checked out the Indian pizzeria across the
street. Unusal spices for my taste but luckily my belly wasn’t in a rebellious
mood that night. Phew! Back at the venue I didn’t have to wait too long any
more as MODER
finally hit the stage at 10:00. 3 guys playing some okayish oldschool Death
Metal. Somehow there wasn’t much communication between the band and the
audience, though. The time between the songs felt extremely awkward. Strange.
Anyway, their guitarist seemed quite sympathetic and their merchandise consisted
not only of CDs but also of tapes and vinyl. That’s the spirit! When DECOMPOSED
GOD hit the stage, the awkward feeling left
pretty soon, even though this was their first gig of the tour and not everything
went smoothly (technical difficulties with the bass amp). The guys put on a
highly energetic show and even though their songs are both technical and brutal,
it was no real problem to follow their blasphemies although they were unknown to
me at that point. While drummer Wagner Campos had worn gloves beforehand, he was
soaked in sweat soon playing all those insane breaks and things. Also Marco
Duarte on guitar and tapping genius Jean Marcel on bass proved to be impressive
musicians when banging off their heads. Moreover, their taste in music proved to
be excellent as they both wore DEATH shirts on stage. Bald headed André
Valongueiro caught my attention with pompous yet evil gestures offering a well
balanced mix of insanity and buddy-feeling. After a short but intense gig, the
band returned for two encores before releasing the audience from their grip for
either the aftershow party or the way home. They definitely got me hooked. Check
out their tourdates at myspace, maybe they rock a venue near your place…
